DAY 1 LIMA
Reception in the Lima airport and transfer to the
Hotel Santa Cruz
located in Miraflores, Lima .Depending on the arrival time of your international flight we
will have the possibility of an optional visit to the gold museum ( not included in the
rate )
DAY 2 CUSCO
After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport where we'll take the flight to Cusco,
upon arrival reception and transfer to our
Orquidea Real Hostal ,
followed by a few cups of mate de coca, whilst you iron out any questions you may have
with us. At 13:45 you leave on the
Cuzco City Tour. This tour
includes the major sites of historical interest in Cuzco, such as the famous Inca fort at
Sacsahuaman, and the temple of the Sun. Also included in this is a tourist card, giving
you access to all the sites in the Cuzco area as a whole (i.e., including outside of the
City itself) This tour finishes at 18:00.( B )
DAY 3 RAFTING
Breakfast.Hr 9 am Departure for rafting in
Ollanta's river. Included:Bus to the river and back , special boat equipment ,
professional guide , lunch. Return hr 5 PM .Lodging at Orquidea Real Hostal.( B )
DAY 4 THROUGH 8 INCA TRAIL

MEALS
Breakfast varies from day to day and can include:

We start our trek escorted by native "quechua" porters going through semi-arid
terrain along the Urubamba river with magnificent views of snow capped mount Veronica ,
later going through Llactapata ,an ancient Inca citadel that protected the entry to two
valleys (L+D)
DAY 5 INCA TRAIL
Today the first part of the trek takes us to the Inca Hamlet of Huayabamba,later going
through Warmiwañuska pass (4200 Mt), known as "dead woman's pass".(B+L+D)
DAY 6 INCA TRAIL
Walking on a remarkably preserved Inca Trail passing ancient archaeological sites covered
by dense jungle overgrowth , later visiting the Phuyupatamarca (city above clouds)with
spectacular view of snow covered Andean ranges, camping at Wyñaywayna , probably the most
spectacular archaeological complex during the trek. (B+L+D)
DAY 7 MACHUPICCHU
Passing through the Intipuncu (gates of the sun) , we arrive to Machupicchu the lost city
of the Incas , then late in the afternoon to Aguas Calientes where we will overnight in
the tents.(B+L)
DAY 8 MACHUPICCHU
Early morning rise and after breakfast we'll take a bus up to visit Machupicchu. An
optional hike for the more dynamic persons up to Huaynapicchu, the pyramid shape peak that
overlooks Machupicchu. Late in the afternoon we'll take the train back to Cusco ,
overnight at our Orquidea Real Hostal ( B )
DAY 9 PUERTO
MALDONADO
Transfer to the airport where you'll take the flight to Puerto Maldonado,
Greeting at the airport and transportation to the WASAI
Maldonado Lodge, where you will receive a welcoming tropical fruit
beverage. You will embark for a 3 to 4 1/2 hour motorboat trip up the
Tambopata river to WASAI Tambopata Lodge & Research Center (box
lunch on route). During the trip we will be able to observe the local
farms, while groups of birds pass over the boat. Opportunity to see
families of Ronsocos, the largest rodents in the world. Reception,
accommodation at the lodge, and lunch. After
a short rest we will have a brief introductory walk in the forest nearby
to learn basic principles of ecology and hear some wildlife natural
history . Return to the lodge for dinner.After
dinner we will make our first visit to the forest to observe the
nocturnal life of insects, frogs of various colors, and an occasional
encounter with nocturnal mammals. We will enjoy the diverse sounds of
the jungle which will accompany our first night in amazonia. Sleep in
the lodge. (L,D)
DAY 10 Macaw clay lick "Collpa"
We will wake up early (4 am) to drink a coffee or hot drink
and leave for the "Collpa". We will travel up the Tambopata
river (or "Bahuaja" in the local dialect) for an hour and a
half, to arrive to observe from a safe distance one of the greatest
spectacles of wildlife: hundreds of parrots and macaws of various
species, enjoying their diet of mineral salts on the clay wall. It is an
experience that never will be forgotten.We
will make a stop on the river bank to have a fruit snack and we will
return to the lodge to have breakfast and rest. After
lunch we will enter the verdant jungle on a special trail to observe
wild life. We will then enter the territory of peccaries, deer, and
others, with the possibility to hear or see the tracks of them, or
discovering a troop of monkeys travelling through the forest in searcçh
of food. Time permitting, we will be able to return to enjoy a relaxing
swim in the cascade of the cat. After
dinner we can make another trip through the jungle, search for caimans
or relax in our lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal sounds. (B,L,D)
DAY 11 Lake Sandoval
After breakfast we will make a trip in boat to the WASAI
Maldonado Lodge, in Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our
bungalows and enjoy a tasty lunch. After lunch we will leave and travel
for twenty minutes on the Madre de Dios River, to the access trail to
Lake Sandoval, a beautiful typical rainforest lake. 5 km hike to the
banks of the lake. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake
enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as
kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre historic looking birds) ,
monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters
which live at the lake. We will have the opportunity to fish piranhas
and swim in the lake. Prepare yourself for a spectacular sunset. It
is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return to
Puerto Maldonado. There we will stay in the modern and comfortable
bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Lodge. After dinner we will be able to rest
or go around the city on foot or on bicycle. We can enjoy the pool and
its cascade surounded by verdant vegetation. Rest of the night free to
enjoy the night life of this welcoming city. (B, L, D)
DAY 12 LIMA
After an early breakfast we will return to Puerto Maldonado for our flight back to
Lima , upon arrival reception and transfer to Hotel Santa Cruz, overnight ( B )
DAY 13 TRANSFER OUT
After breakfast, transfer to the airport where
you'll take your international flight ( B ) |
