Canopy Walkway and Machu Picchu package tour (9 days and 8 nights)
Price per person US$2230 based on double occupancy
An exciting package that combines the Canopy Walkway experience with a visit
to Cusco and Machu Picchu. The Canopy Walkway is a suspended bridge spanning
over 500 meters, connected by tree platforms and reaching a height of over
37 meters above the ground. Here there is time to observe a part of the
rainforest rarely seen by man but accessible without any type of climbing skill
or equipment.
Departures: THURSDAYS
Day 1: Thursday - LIMA
You will be picked up upon arrival and transfer to Carmel Hotel or similar .
Overnight.
Day 2: Friday - IQUITOS
You will transfer to the airport where you will have the flight connection
to Iquitos (Airfare included). Reception at the airport or hotel and
transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon
River to Ceiba Tops where your Amazon adventure begins. Afternoon transfer
by boat to the Mazan trail where you pass across a land bridge which marks
the shortest distance between the Amazon and Napo Rivers. Upon arrival at
the Napo River, your next launch will transfer you down the river to the
250,000 acre Amazon Rainforest Reserve and ExplorNapo Lodge. Afternoon hike
through primary, terra firme, non-flooding rainforest including a visit to
the medicinal plant garden near the Camp. Evening excursion by open boat
along the Sucusari Stream in search of caiman and to enjoy the night sounds
and stars of the Southern sky.(B, L, D).
Day 3: Saturday - CANOPY WALKWAY
Early morning birding excursion. Morning hike to the Canopy Walkway, a
suspended bridge spanning over 500 meters (1/3 of a mile), connected by tree
platforms and reaching a height of over 35 meters (115 feet) above the
ground. Here there is time to observe a part of the rainforest rarely seen
by man but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment.
Afternoon boating excursion along one of the Napo tributaries spotting for
sloth, birding and having a try at fishing for piranha.

Day 4: Sunday - IQUITOS
Early morning birding by boat or foot. Morning excursion to visit some of
the local river people called "ribereņos" whose houses and schools are seen
along the river. They will be pleased to show you their simple way of life
dominated by the movements of the mighty rivers that surround them. Early
lunch and followed by your return trip to civilization by boat on the Amazon
and Napo rivers back to Iquitos. Transfer to the airport where you will take
the flight back to Lima (airfare included). You will stay overnight at
Carmel Hotel. (B, L).
NOTE: Due to the everchanging nature of the rainforest, day-by-day
activities are subject to change due to weather, trail or river conditions.
Bring rain gear and sunscreen as for all Explorama Rainforest programs.
Day 5: Monday - CUSCO
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight to Cusco (airfare
included). Upon arrival reception at airport of Cusco and lodge at Orquidea
Real Hostel or similar. In the afternoon: Cusco City Tour from 2 pm to 6:00
pm. This tour includes the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Cathedral.
The tour moves along the Circunvalacion Road up to famous fortress of Sacsahuaman, then to Q'enqo, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay. This tour includes
a bilingual guide. Include the Tourist ticket valid for the entrance to many
museums and ruins as well. Lodging at Orquidea Real or similar. (B).
Day 6: Tuesday - SACRED VALLEY TOUR
You will be picked up at 8,45A.M. Full day excursion to the Urubamba Valley,
visiting: the village of Pisac, a picturesque town of creole and colonial
aspect and its lndian market and craftfair. Lunch provided. In the afternoon
you'll visit to the fortress of Ollantaytambo, an architectural group that
in the days of the Tahuantinsuyo empire was a gigantic agricultural,
administrative, social, religious and military complex, then the Chincero
market. At the end Return to Cusco and Overnight. (B,L)
Day 7: Wednesday - MACHU PICCHU
At 5:30 a.m. you will be picked up from the hotel to the train station which
leaves at 06:00 a.m. Travel will be in a "Vistadome" Class (formerly "Autowagon"),
the best there is. At 09:40 a.m. you will arrive at the Aguas Calientes
Station, from where you will take a 25 minutes bus ride to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Once there, you will take a guided tour, with an English
speaking guide. Overnight at the Presidente Hostal or similar in Aguas
Calientes (Machupicchu). (B,Box lunch)
*Optional: For lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge instead of box-lunch,
add $35.00 to the tour price.
Day 8: Thursday - AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU Morning at leisure
in Aguas Calientes to continue visiting the area by your own and optional
visit to Machu Picchu (bus ticket and entrance fees not included). In the
afternoon at 3:30 pm we will take the Vistadome train back to Cusco,
arriving at 7:30 pm. We will stay overnight at Orquidea Real Hostal. (B)
Day 9: Friday - TRANSFER OUT
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight back to Lima (airfare
included) and end of our services. (B) |

Note : We can replace above Hotels with other one with the same
characteristics in the case that it becomes necessary for operative and other
reasonable causes.
